She holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration from the Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) and advanced degrees including a Master's concentrating in sculpture and an Educational Specialist degree in administration and leadership. With over 15 years of experience in art administration and a profound commitment to education, Jes has taught at both high school and university levels, instilling a passion for creativity in her students.

Jes's artistic career started in professional illustration, but her passion led her toward sculpture—a medium where she can explore the intersection of the natural and mechanical worlds. Having endured a bear attack as a child, which resulted in her living with a prosthetic right hand, Jes transforms her challenges into inspiration.
